Let’s just start by saying that 2021 is going to be a much better year than the last. If we will it to be, it can become a realization and lead to success. 2020 wasn’t an easy year for any one of us. We were all pretty wrecked by the COVID-19 pandemic. Being forced into quarantine while the pandemic paired with other natural disasters claimed the lives of millions of people across the globe was, indeed, a nightmare.
To make matters worse, the unemployment rate also soared record highs due to the need for business shutdowns or even the cutting down of manpower in some companies that managed to survive. All of this went down while there was a political unrest.
We can all conclude that 2020 was a rough year but despite that, there were still some good outcomes along the way.
Even though a lot of businesses had to close down, 2020 was a celebratory year for the eCommerce industry. That’s something that’s worth jumping for joy for. The streaming community also thrived a whole lot last year due to the popularity of video games during this pandemic.
The Pentagon released some pretty odd UFO videos that many people found entertaining. It’s astounding that the majority did not become worried about a potential alien invasion during a time when it is as if there is an apocalypse.
We don’t want to tell you to look at the bright side because in truth, even the bright side is looking pretty dim at the moment. But if you can say YES to any of these questions, there’s no doubt that your year has been one of the good ones.
1. Did I Learn Something New About My Character in 2020 that I will use to have a better 2021?
Self-development is often underrated by some hardworking people but if we take the time to examine all the successful people that we know, we would realize that the major key to their success would be the openness to learn new things about their personality, even the bad ones.
Your character isn’t a consonant. The good thing about getting to know yourself on a deeper level is that you get to identify the traits that are inevitably leading to your failures which gives you a chance to correct them and develop good habits.
2. Was I In Touch with My Goals and Priorities So This Year Will Be Better?
If it’s a definite yes, then congratulations! It takes a lot of self-discipline to align priorities and goals, more so execute them in 2021.
The COVID-19 pandemic may have forced us to stay home for far longer than we wanted to but this isolation gave us the time to reflect on our own lives. If you were able to identify goals and priorities that you never knew existed then it is a good sign that you are moving forward.
Even if you aren’t set on how you are going to go about achieving your goals just yet, by simply identifying your objective is already a step further in the right direction because most people don’t even know what they want.
3. Did I Have A Support System That I Could Lean to Strengthen me into 2021?
No matter how capable you are, at the end of the day, you are still human and constantly need support and love from people.
Not all of us have someone to call if something comes up. Most people have to cry themselves to sleep when dealing with emotional turbulence.
So, if you have people supporting you in your hardest moments, you’re far better off than most of us could ever hope for this year. Maybe sometimes you even feel suffocated from all the love people are giving to you but it only means that people don’t want you to feel alone.
4. Was I Able to Find an Activity That Brought Me Joy that I will Continue with into 2021?
For a lot of people raising a family, being fired from a job is a tremendous loss but there are people who are completely stable as far as finances are concerned. Yet, they don’t find the time to nourish a hobby. Most of them don’t realize it but being all in on their work with no play is actually doing a number on them.
It simply isn’t good to not have any healthy pastime. Luckily, this pandemic gifted us the time to find out what our hobbies and interests are. It also gave us a lot of free time to practice these hobbies. Remember that when things start getting back to normal, we will no longer have this luxury.
Finding something that makes you happy is rarer than most people imagine. If you were able to find an interest or hobby that resonates deeply with your personality, then we give you a big thumbs up for making 2020 worth it.
We do recommend that even when things start to pick back up, continue to nourish this new-found hobby even if you just do it once a week or twice every month. It’ll help move forward further in the coming years.
5. Did I Help Someone During These Challenging Times?
Whether we realize it or not, we live in an ecosystem. So sometimes, you feel like the world is bad because negative things keep on happening to you. But it could be that these bad times need to happen for a single person so that the whole group can benefit.
Put it this way. Sometimes you are the one who receives help and other times you have to be the one to help someone. Regardless of which end you stood in last year, having helped or having been helped is a reason to celebrate. It is a really good feeling to be part of something bigger than yourself. More than that, every time we help someone, we learn in the process. These lessons are vital for us to move forward in our life and into 2021 and make it a success.
Takeaway
We applied these questions to ourselves and decided that our 2020 was, indeed, a great one despite everything that has happened. As a matter of fact, it might even be our best year in alignment to these questions. 2021 can only benefit from it.
